We've done our best to share all important information throughout our website - about your stay, the surf, the food, the rooms, and what life at Coco Loco is really like. You can contact us anytime via Instagram, email, or our contact form - we're happy to help.

Do the rooms have AC?

Some of them do-not all rooms.
Our cabanas are designed with natural, passive cooling. The palm roofs allow heat to dissipate while ocean breezes keep the air moving-especially at night. All cabanas have fans to keep things comfortable. Rooms in our Beachfront House do have air conditioning. Most guests find the natural airflow and fans very comfortable, particularly after sunset. In the booking process, you can choose between rooms with or without air conditioning.

How are the rooms equipped?

All rooms include:

  • Mosquito nets
  • Towels (including pool towels)
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Daily cleaning service

Bed linens and towels are changed twice weekly (Wednesdays and Saturdays). We offer cold-water showers only. In our warm tropical climate, hot water is rarely missed- and after a surf or a sunny day, a cool shower feels more refreshing than anything else. Cleanliness is extremely important to us, and our team takes great care in maintaining both the rooms and the entire property.

How far is the beach?

Very close.
From most rooms, you can hear the waves. From the restaurant and pool area, there is a direct ocean view and only a short walk (a few hundred meters) to the beach.
Our Beachfront House sits directly on the sand.

How is transport organized? Can I arrive late at night?

Yes-late arrivals are absolutely possible.
We offer private airport transfers from Managua Airport at any time of day or night, based on your flight schedule. The drive to Northern Nicaragua takes approximately 3-5 hours depending on traffic. Many of our packages include airport transfer. If yours does not, we can easily arrange it for you. We aim to make your arrival a smooth and stress-free as possible.

Is Coco Loco a party place?

No-Coco Loco is not a party destination (although our margaritas might be among the best you've had).
Our atmosphere is relaxed, social, and easygoing. Guests come for surf, good food, meaningful conversations, and peaceful evenings. Celebrations and group dinners are always welcome-we simply don't position ourselves as a nightlife venue.

Are kids welcome?

Yes-families and children are very welcome.
We offer certain weeks throughout the year that are especially suited to families. We also host occasional adults-only weeks for guests seeking a quieter atmosphere. This balance allows everyone to enjoy the experience that suits them best.

Where is Coco Loco located?

Coco Loco is located on the Northern Pacific coast of Nicaragua. This region is less developed and less touristic than the south, offering a more authentic and nature-focused experience. It's quiet, spacious, and ideal for travelers looking to disconnect and spend time by the ocean.

Is tipping expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but always appreciated.
All tips are shared among the entire team-including housekeeping, kitchen staff, maintenance, and security. Nearly 30 people work behind the scenes to make your stay comfortable and seamless. As a general guideline, many guests choose to tip around 10% of their stay. Many guests typically leave between $50-200 USD per person, depending on the duration of their visit. But of course, the amount is always up to you.

Is your restaurant open to the public?

No-our restaurant is exclusively for guests staying with us.
Keeping it private allows us to maintain a calm, personal atmosphere and ensures everyone staying here can fully enjoy the experience.

Are waves guaranteed?

We are located on the Pacific Ocean, so there are surfable waves year-round.
That said, conditions vary depending on swell, wind, tides, and season. Some days bring larger, more powerful waves, while others offer smaller more playful conditions ideal for progression. Our region has a variety of surf spots nearby, allowing us to choose locations that best match your level and the day's conditions. Each session is planned around forecasts and tides to give you the best possible experience.

Is Northern Nicaragua suitable for advanced surfers?

Yes. Northern Nicaragua is known for powerful, consistent waves and significantly fewer crowds than the south.
Nearby breaks include well-known spots like The Boom, along with several other beach and point breaks that work under different conditions. When the swell aligns, Coco Loco Point can offer long, clean rides directly in front of the property. Our certified English-speaking surf guides help you choose the right spots and timing to make the most of your sessions.

What is the weather like during green season?

From April to October we enter what's known as green season. This means more rain than the dry months, but not constant rain. Showers often arrive in the late afternoon, evening, or overnight and are usually followed by clear skies and sunshine. The landscape becomes lush and vibrant, the air cools slightly, and the region feels quieter and more alive. While tropical weather can occasionally bring longer rain periods, most days still include plenty of sun and surf.

Is Nicaragua safe?

Yes-with normal travel awareness.
As in any country, larger cities require attentiveness, especially at night. We recommend using trusted transportation and staying mindful of personal belongings. Northern Nicaragua, where Coco Loco is located, the environment is rural, quiet, and community-oriented. Many guests are pleasantly surprised by how peaceful and welcoming it feels. We are always happy to help organize reliable transportation and provide guidance to ensure a smooth and comfortable stay.

Do you offer laundry service?

Yes.
Our team offers laundry service for $10 USD per wash, and the fee goes directly to them. Please place your laundry in the basket in your room and let a team member know (or bring it to the restaurant/reception area) so it can be scheduled. Your clean laundry is typically returned the next day.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Yes, Wi-Fi is available in most areas of the property.
Because of our remote beachfront location, speeds can vary slightly at times, but it is generally reliable for messaging, calls, and light work. Many guests use their stay as a chance to disconnect a bit and settle into the slower rhythm of the coast.

Can I rent surfboards?

Yes we offer a range of surfboards.
Boards can be included in certain packages or rented separately if needed. Let us know your height, weight, and experience level ahead of time so we can make sure the right equipment is available for you.

If yoga is important to your stay, just ask us what will be running during your dates and we'll let you know what's scheduled.

We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers medical care, travel delays/ interruption/ chancellation, and surf-related activities. While issues are rare, having insurance provides peace of mind when traveling internationally and surfing in remote locations.

What currency should I bring?

Bath US dollars and Nicaraguan cordobas are accepted everywhere. Most travelers use US dollars for convenience. If you pay in US dollars at a store, you will receive change in cordobas. We recommend bringing small bills ($1, $5, $10, $20) for convenience, tips, or small purchases while traveling.
