Nature & Adventures
-
Temazcal Experience
A traditional sweat lodge guided by a local host. Inside a small dome, volcanic stones are heated and infused with water and herbs to create steam and rising heat. The session includes 4 rounds, with time to cool down in between. It also includes a volcanic clay and sea salt scrub with aromatic flowers, aloe vera hydration, an ice bath for hot–cold contrast, and a herbal tea from the garden. Simple, intense, and a chance to slow down and reset.

Volcán Telíca
The Telica Volcano is one of Nicaragua’s most active volcanoes and offers a raw, off-the-beaten-path experience. A short hike leads you across a rugged volcanic landscape to the smoking crater, where you can feel the power of nature up close. The trip pairs perfectly with a day in León. Many guests head out in the afternoon to reach the crater in time for sunset—when the landscape turns golden.
-
Boat Trip & Wakeboarding
We offer boat trips to the nearby mangroves, where you explore a largely untouched natural area by boat. Gliding through the calm waterways, you're surrounded by nature, wildlife, and wide views often with a volcano in the background. The trip always includes wakeboarding, and there's also the option to ride an inflatable sofa or jump from trees into the water. It's a fun, active experience that works well for friends, families, and groups who want to combine nature with time on the water.
-
Volcano Hike Cosigüina
Only 1.5 hours north of Coco Loco, near the borders of Honduras and El Salvador, Volcán Cosigüina offers one of the most stunning views in the region. On clear days, you can see across the Gulf of Fonseca toward both Honduras and El Salvador - a rare moment where three countries meet in one panoramic view. An easy 45-minute walk through forest leads you to the crater rim, where you can look down into the lagoon at the bottom of the volcano and out across Nicaragua's northern peninsula. A perfect half-day nature escape beyond the waves.
-
Baby Turtles
We run a small turtle hatchery directly on the beach, where we protect sea turtle eggs purchased from local collectors and care for them until they hatch. If you're here at the right time, you may be able to join us in releasing the baby turtles together into the ocean, Hatching follows natural cycles, not fixed dates. The process is handled carefully and with respect for the animals and their environment. Important to know: This is a conservation effort, not a guaranteed experience-timing and nature decide.
-
Local Fruit Walk
We offer a Local Fruit Walk directly on our property. During a guided walk, you'll learn which fruits grow around Coco Loco, how they are used locally, and how the seasons shape what grows here. Our land is home to around 100 plant species, including more than 20 different fruit varieties. It's a relaxed and educational experience that helps you better understand the landscape and where your food comes from. Good to know: What you see and taste depends on the season-nature decides what's ready.
